Position Overview:
Responsibilities:
The Advancement Research Intern will contribute to the development team's success by:
Working independently to identify new individual prospects
Working independently to provide timely research on current and prospective individual, corporate and foundation donors
Working with the Development Research Team with data-entry and quality management of the fundraising database
Qualifications:
Open-Source Intelligence Research Skills
Demonstrated ability to utilize open-source, publicly available information and data. Strong sense of ethics and donor privacy protection. Resourceful in collecting disparate pieces of information and using that information to create a holistic picture of the subject matter.
Project Management and Organizational Skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple research projects and meet deadlines. Flexible, persistent and resilient to changing priorities; able to prioritize and take initiative in fast-paced, changing environment. Organized with attention to detail. Systems-thinker.
Tech Savvy
Ability to utilize various technology, databases and applications. Pro-active attitude towards learning new technology and using technology to optimize work.
Excellent Communication Skills
Ability to manage relationships with diverse development staff. Strong presentation and liaison skills are required. Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in difficult or sensitive situations. Strong written and oral communication skills. Experience working in an entrepreneurial, dynamic organization; enthusiastic with sense of humor.
Commitment to Team
Able to work well towards independent goals and as a part of a diverse cross-functional team. Comfortable giving and receiving feedback. Collaborative work style; teamwork orientation; ability and willingness to serve on or lead a team. As needed, contribute to and participate in general City Year activities and events including City Year's annual staff training (Summer Academy).
